GigaPress found that WordPress is the most popular publicly available CMS among the top 10,000 sites in the Alexa rankings.

To determine the type of CMS on each site, a special script was used that takes into account more than 900 systems.

The authors of the report assumed that most of the sites in the ranking will use their own content management system, and the study confirmed this: 76.12% of the leading sites run on the basis of a CMS that is not publicly available.

For those sites that rely on publicly available solutions, WordPress is the most popular CMS among them. This system is used by 1057 (10.57%) sites in the sample, notes NIXsolutions.

This brings the market share of WordPress to 44.26%. It is followed by Drupal by a large margin (9.6%).
